Oscar V. Absher

November 9, 1915 — February 24, 2011

Oscar V. Absher, son of the late Jonathan and Celia (Hill) Absher, was born on November 9, 1915 in Wright County, Missouri and passed away suddenly on February 24, 2011 at his home near Mtn. Grove, Missouri, at 95 years of age.
Oscar grew up in Wright County where he attended school. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged on October 9, 1945. He was awarded two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, American Defense Service Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon and five Overseas Bars. He often talked to a friend regarding the war and the difficulties of war.
Oscar was a quiet and simple man who stayed to himself on the family farm where he was born and raised and had lived all his life. His lifestyle reflected that of someone who didn’t like to bother others and was okay with being left alone. He took care of himself and never asked much from those around.
He is survived by nieces; nephews; and other relatives and neighbors.
