Pat (Northcutt) Medlock

October 17, 1926 — April 22, 2012

Morion Patricia “Pat” Medlock, daughter of the late Jack and Anna (Welsher) Northcutt, was born on October 17, 1926 in Plainview, Texas, and departed this life on April 22, 2012 at her daughter’s residence in Norwood, Missouri following a long illness, at 85 years of age.
Pat’s family moved from Texas to Mtn. Grove, Missouri when she was three years of age after her father passed away in a plane crash. She grew up and attended school in Mtn. Grove. She was united in marriage to Howard Royal. Three daughters, Donnasue, Dinnishia, and Diana, were born to this union. She later married Doyle Edward Medlock. One daughter, Pamela, was born to this union while they were living in Kansas City, Missouri. The family later moved to St. Louis, Missouri where they adopted a son, Gregory. They raised their family and made their home there for over thirty-five years. After Pat retired, she and Doyle moved to their lake house at Lake of the Ozarks before she moved back to the Mtn. Grove area in the late 1980’s. Mr. Medlock passed away on October 9, 1991.
Pat enjoyed her own business of quilting, hand quilting, and clothing alterations for the community. A customer gave her a collectable frog and from then on, those around her would contribute to her collection and at the time of her passing, Pat ended up with over 2000 frogs.
She helped run a dry cleaning business and ceramic shop with her daughter, Donnasue Cottengim in Mtn. Grove for several years and she also helped out her daughter, Diana Freeman, with her auction at Macomb. Pat loved company and her door was always open to anyone in need. She was a very generous and compassionate person. She loved her grandchildren very much and knew each one of them well.
Pat wasn’t a member of any area church, but she truly enjoyed listening to her grandson, Randy Cottengim, preach.
Pat was well known in the area for her homemade “famous barbeque sauce.” She loved giving it away to anyone who wanted to try it. Her recipe was a well kept secret, even from her family.
Besides her parents and her husband, Doyle Medlock, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren: Sandy Freeman, Stephen Albritton-Horseman, and Shawn Friend; and by a great-grandson and a great-granddaughter.
Pat is survived by her four daughters: Donnasue Cottengim and her husband, Wilkie, of Norwood, Missouri, Dinnishia Fleetwood and her husband, Joe, of Ava, Missouri, Diana Freeman and her husband, Kenneth, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri and Pamela Horseman and her husband, Russ, of Harrisonville, Missouri; her adopted son, Gregory Medlock of Neosho, Missouri; four brothers: Kenneth Northcutt and his wife, Pauline, Huggins, Missouri, Warren Green and his wife, Ylene, and John Green and his wife, Betty, all of Kansas City, Missouri, and Lyle Green and his wife, Carol, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; three sisters: Louise Knox and her husband, Oran, of Raymondville, Texas, June Barnes of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and Wanda Harris and her husband, Ken, of Woodland, Texas; twenty-two grandchildren; fifty-six great-grandchildren; sixteen great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
