Perry Hanchey

January 17, 1953 — October 29, 2021

Perry “PH” Mitchell Hanchey, 68, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, passed away October 29, 2021. He was born to Charles Hanchey and Fern (Goforth) Hunt on January 17, 1953, in Palo Alto, California. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in Twin Falls, Idaho, in 1971. He spent much of his career in sales in Idaho, Texas, and Missouri.

Perry loved sports and was a great athlete, always excelling. He was a feisty competitor and loved to win, whether it was at golf or a game of Yahtzee. He was a standout baseball player in his late teens and twenties, attending and playing for the College of Southern Idaho (CSI). After baseball, PH developed a passion for golf and quickly became a top amateur. He held multiple course records, perhaps his favorite being the 58 he shot at Twin Falls Municipal Golf Course. Perry was the back-to-back champion of the Magic Valley Amateur Tournament in 1987 and 1988. He recorded 10 lifetime hole-in-one’s, and 2 double eagles, and was always considered to be the best putter by his peers. He made thousands of putts with his trusty old Bullseye putter. He instilled his love for the game in his children who all played. PH also loved to cheer on the Alabama Crimson Tide football team. He could talk for hours about the game each week.

As grandchildren came along, Perry loved to tell stories and laugh with each of them; often saying how good it was to see them smile. He taught them his favorite birthday song that they all still sing today. His grandchildren brought him joy, and he was incredibly proud of each one of them.

His dedication to the Bible and God’s promises gave him peace through his life, especially the last few years. His love for the Lord brought him comfort and confidence that he would be reunited with his family in Heaven. Perry deeply loved his yorkie, Jerrie Lee, who was his dedicated companion and friend the last decade.

Perry was preceded in death by both his parents, Charles Hanchey and Fern Hunt.

Perry is survived by his daughter, Shannon Julian (Adam), son, Chad Hanchey (Alyka), and daughter, Alison Tarbox (Jared), as well as 7 grandchildren, Aubrey Julian, Addison Julian, Kaiden Tarbox, Ava Julian, Kynzie Tarbox, Hadley Hanchey, and Haylan Hanchey, his brothers, Charles Michael Hanchey and Mark Hanchey, and sister, Kathleen Amanti.

A private service for immediate family will take place in the coming days. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his name to one of Perry’s favorite ministries, Jimmy Swaggart Ministries P.O. Box 262550 Baton Rouge, LA 70826.
