Rhoda Fern Biggers

July 22, 1923 — March 27, 2009

Rhoda Fern Biggers, daughter of the late William and Julia (Carder) Longwell, was born on July 22, 1923 near Houston, Missouri, and departed this life on Friday, March 27, 2009 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri at 85 years of age.
Rhoda grew up in Texas County, Missouri and was united in marriage to Ervin Biggers in 1938 in Rayborn, Missouri. Two children were born to this union. Mr. and Mrs. Biggers made their home Olney, Illinois for many years. Mr. Biggers passed away in 1972. Rhoda made her home in Mtn. Grove for the past few years.
While living in Illinois, Rhoda was a licensed beautician who owned and operated a shop near Olney.
She was known as an excellent cook and also enjoyed baking for her family. She liked sewing, gardening and being outdoors.
Rhoda was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
While living in the Mtn. Grove area, she enjoyed attending the First Christian Church.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Raymond Longwell, Elvis Longwell, and Thomas Longwell; one sister: Martha Splechter; and by two brothers-in-law: Floyd Raney and Dick Harms.
She is survived by her son: Paul Biggers of Springfield, Illinois; her daughter and son-in-law: Julie and Edd Sterchi of Harrisburg, Illinois; a foster-son: Jim Gilbert of Madison, Florida; two brothers: Bob Longwell and his wife, Nancy, and Richard Longwell; two sisters: Emajean Raney and Lucy Harms; seven grandchildren: Patty and Larry Tate, Mike and Debbie Biggers, Mark and Suzi Biggers, Brian and Lisa Biggers, Bethany and Scott Aldridge, Brittany Sterchi and her fiancé, Patrick Carver, and Ben Sterchi; eleven great-grandchildren; Kimberly Tate, Megan Tate, Whitney Tate, Jeremiah Biggers, Lucas Biggers, Sean Ashwell, Dave Ashwell, Jennifer Ashwell, Jonah Biggers, Blake Biggers, and Paxton Carver; three great-great-grandchildren: Allyson Biggers, Morgan Biggers and Addison Hagarty; nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral Service:
Thursday, April 2, at 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Wednesday, April 1, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
Burial:
Green Mountain Cemetery

First Christian Church or the American Heart Association c/o the funeral home.
