Richard Dennis Gamby

Richard Rick Dennis Gamby, son of the late Floyd J. and Lorraine Joyce (Ludwig) Gamby, was born on May 18, 1951 in Holland, Michigan and departed this life on October 17, 2014 at his home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 63 years, 9 months, and 12 days of age.


Rick lived and attended school in Imperial Beach, California, where he met Rose Anne Zumstein. They were married on November 27, 1976 in San Diego, California. Five children were born to this union: Charlotte Celeste, Justin Richard, Laura Marie, Ashley Rose, and Angela Anne.


He loved his San Diego Chargers football team. Rick also loved attending and taking his family to the Pacific Classic Horse Races in Del Mar, California every year.


Rick was an independent truck driver. He owned and operated a successful earth moving trucking business. A few years ago, Rick moved to Mountain Grove, Missouri to help take care of his 91 year old father. Both, Rick and his father, Floyd Gamby, passed away on the same day.


Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his younger brother: Ronald Floyd Gamby.


Survivors include five children: Charlotte Celeste, Justin Richard, Laura Marie, Ashley Rose, and Angela Anne. Charlotte married Ricardo Vazquez and has a son, Derrick, and a daughter, Clarissa; Justin has a daughter, Danica; Laura married Fernando Garcia; Ashley and Angela are both in college. Besides his spouse and children, Richard has two remaining sisters; Kathy Berkheimer and Shelia Lane; and many other family and friends who will miss him greatly.


Memorial Service: Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.

Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date (not public)
