Richard 'Dick' Earl Mabe

Richard E. “Dick” Mabe, son of the late Lester Mabe and Aline (Prock) Mabe Smith, was born on May 29, 1939 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri and departed this life on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at his residence near Mtn. Grove, following a three year battle with cancer. He was 71 years, 7 months and 7 days of age.
Dick grew up and attended school in the Mtn. Grove area. He was united in marriage to Virginia Blacketer on October 14, 1958 in Mtn. Grove. Five sons were born to this union.
Dick worked most of his life doing construction jobs and farm work. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and he especially liked to turkey hunt each year.
He was a “people person” and looked forward to spending time and sharing stories at Murphy’s Barber Shop with some of his best friends.
Dick was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Frank Mabe; and by an infant sister: Ireena.
He is survived by his wife: Virginia Mabe of their home; his five sons: Ricky Mabe and his wife, Mary, Robert Mabe and his wife, Sheila, Richard Mabe and his wife, Colleen, Buddy Mabe and his wife Melissa and Randy Mabe and his wife, Tammy; one brother: Don Mabe and his wife, Mary,of Walnut Shade, Missouri; one sister: Clara Ruth Powell of Indianapolis, Indiana; nineteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Monday, January 10th at 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Sunday, January 9th from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM in the funeral home.
