Robert "Bob" C. Densel

July 20, 1927 — May 3, 2017

Robert “Bob” Calvin Densel, son of the late Robert Calvin and Golda (Sanders) Densel, was born July 20, 1927 in Dixon, Ohio, and passed away May 3, 2017 in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri. He was 89 years, 9 months, and 13 days of age.
At the age of two, Bob and his mother moved to Mountain Grove, Missouri, which was his mother’s hometown. Bob enjoyed growing up in the Ozarks. He loved hunting squirrels and rabbits. As a young man, he loved going down to Panther Creek with his best bud, Leroy Hutson. They would camp out under the stars and survive off the land. Bob was an adventurous man who loved exploring abandoned old houses, going spelunking, metal detecting, hiking and just having a good time.
Bob met his “sweet thing”, Naomi Armstrong, in 1949 and always said he had never seen a prettier girl since. He put many miles on his Model A courting his “sweet thing” before they married on November 4, 1950. They were the best of friends and had sixty-four wonderful years together before Naomi’s passing on March 18, 2015. The way Bob always spoke of her you would have thought they were newlyweds. He enjoyed telling stories of the days when they dated, the dances together, ballgames, and many picnics; they were quite the pair.
Bob was saved and baptized at a young age and always enjoyed attending church, revivals, and leading worship. He enjoyed singing, whistling, and playing instruments, such as the harmonica, guitar, and fiddle.
Bob loved carpentry and painting. Together, he and Leroy painted half the homes and businesses in Mountain Grove.
He was an avid reader, loved collecting knives, and loved telling stories of the good old days. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and he adored his grandchildren.
Words cannot express how much we will miss our dad and grandpa. From being called “sugar booger”, his endless hugs and kisses, and especially his friendship will be greatly missed.
Besides his parents and his wife, Bob was preceded in death by one grandchild, Jesse Joe Mullins; one brother-in-law, Lonnie Armstrong; and one sister-in-law, Viretta McCoy.
He is survived by two sons, Robert H. Densel of Norwood, Missouri, and James T. Densel of Alaska; one daughter, Gina Densel of Springfield, Missouri; brother-in-law, Gil Armstrong and his wife, Sue, of Payette, Idaho; sister-in-law, Teresa Laughridge and her husband, Mike, of Meridian, Idaho; brother-in-law, Don McCoy of Rogersville, Missouri; sister-in-law, Darlene Armstrong of New Plymouth, Idaho; five grandchildren, Michele Curran and her husband, Donnie, Desirae Bradshaw and her husband, Justin, Ashley Watson and her husband, Grant, Kimberly Mullins, and Keaton Carpenter; ten great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Zachary, Caleb, Taylor, Alyssa, Adilee, Elijah, Ava, and Tanner; and host of other family and friends who will greatly miss him.
