Robert D. Peters

April 2, 1923 — February 28, 2007

Robert D. Peters, son of the late Archie and Anna Peters, was born on April 2, 1923 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and departed this life on February 28, 2007 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a long illness. He was 83 years, 10 months, and 26 days of age.
Robert grew up and attended school in Keokuk, Iowa. Robert was united in marriage to Norma (Poor) Kimbrell on December 20, 1961 in California. They made their home in Quincy, Illinois where he was employed as a Security officer for the St. Mary’s Hospital, the Quincy Mall, and the Quincy County Jail for several years at each business. He was a long time member of the Moose Lodge in Quincy, Illinois for many years. He and Norma made their home in the Vanzant, Missouri community in Douglas County for the past sixteen years. Robert enjoyed being outdoors, especially when fishing and he also was a big NASCAR racing fan. He also liked visiting with his neighbors and friends. He was a long time member of the Lutheran Faith.
Robert was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years: Norma Peters of their home; four sons: Anthony “Tony” D. Peters, Larry Peters, Michael Peters, and Steven Peters; one step-son: Dennis Kimbrell; two step-daughters: Judy Rossmiller and Vivian Grimes; two brothers: Ernest Kephart and Dale Kephart; one sister: JoAnn Newman; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Robert D. Peters were held Friday, March 9, 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Sparks officiating. Song selections were by The Gaither’s. Arrangements and services were under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, MO.
