Robert Dwain Burton

August 14, 1940 — October 9, 2009

Robert Dwain Burton, son of the late Robert W. Burton and Tiny P. (Holst) Burton, was born on August 14, 1940 in Lisbon, Missouri, and passed away on October 9, 2009 in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 69, after 35 years of dialysis.

Dwain was united in marriage to Marilyn J. Gilbo on June 18, 1961, in Sturgis, Michigan. Three children were born to this union.

He is survived by his mother, Tiny Burchard of Sturgis, Michigan; his wife of 48 years, Marilyn of their home; one sister: Joyce Aldrich and her husband, Bob, of Demming, New Mexico; one brother: Kevin Burton and his wife, Rose, of Sturgis, Michigan; one daughter: Justine Burton of Searcy, Arkansas; two sons: Robert Burton and his wife, Paula and Jason Burton and his wife, Tanisha, all of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; eight grandchildren: Nicole, Rachel, and Amber, all of Searcy, Arkansas, and Jessica, Rob, Hesston, Samuel, Kloe, and Alyssa, all of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; one great-grandson: Haiden of Searcy, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends that will miss him deeply.

Dwain enjoyed being with his family, fishing, and music. He always wore a smile and never knew a stranger. His latest accomplishment was his book, “NOT TO LATE TO WEEP” published by AUTHORHOUSE. He wanted to share with the world the story of his life and his relationship with God while living with the challenges of a life with dialysis. “After thirty-five years I am still thankful for the machine, and that I get to dialyze, and live another day. I never say I have to dialyze, but I get to dialyze.”
