Roy Wilbur Burdick Jr.

Roy W. Burdick Jr., son of the late Roy Sr. and Mary Louise (Decou) Burdick, was born on June 26, 1948 in Oshkosh, Nebraska and departed this life on January 1, 2011 at his residence in Hartville, Missouri after a long illness. Roy was 62 years, 6 months, and 6 days of age.
Roy was raised in both the Oshkosh, Nebraska and Hartville, Missouri areas. He graduated from high school in Oshkosh in 1966. Roy married Barbara Mitchell on March 31, 1967 in Mountain Grove, Missouri. They had been married for 43 years. Roy and Barbara adopted nine children and served as foster parents for several other children throughout the years.
Roy worked numerous jobs over the years but spent the last several years driving a school bus for the State School. He loved to work on and restore cars. He also enjoyed putting puzzles together. Roy was always ready to help someone in need. His favorite saying was “every day that he could hug his granddaughters was a good day”.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of their home, Barbara; five sons: Travis (TJ), Timothy, and Brandon Burdick of Hartville, Troy Burdick of Mountain Grove, and Rodney Burdick of Springfield, Missouri; four daughters: Roberta Fullington and Debbie Burdick, both of Hartville, April Baskin of Mansfield, Missouri, and Dee Albertson of Mountain Grove; four sisters: Betty Sheldon of Jasper, Arkansas, Mary Mitchell of Hartville, Molly Hutson of Eldridge, Missouri, and Bonnie Ogden of Hartville; two grandchildren: Michelle Dian and Ashley Raeann Fullington; and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.

Visitation:

Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 6:00 - 7:00 PM in the Chapel.
