Ruby Faye Smith

Ruby Faye Smith, daughter of the late Walter Samuel and Bessie Mae (Richardson) Dodson, was born August 5, 1924, in Marshfield, Missouri, and passed away November 10, 2021, at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour, Missouri, at 97 years of age.

When she was young, she moved to Springfield, Missouri, where she attended and graduated from Central High School in 1941. Ruby married Chester “Monroe” Smith of Seymour, Missouri, on September 8, 1942. Ruby and Monroe had been married 67 years and 7 months at the time of his passing.

Ruby was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Senior Citizen Center, and First Baptist Church, all of Seymour, Missouri. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe, three brothers, Ivan, Donald, and Cecil, four sisters, Mary, Mildred, Peggy, and Dorothy, and by a great-granddaughter, Hayley Jo Burks.

She is survived by three sons, Jerry and JoEllen Smith of Washington, Illinois, Joe Dean and Norma Smith of Belleville, Illinois, and Jackie and Kathy Smith of Seymour, Missouri, seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and many other relatives, neighbors, and friends.
