Ruby T. Anderson

August 15, 1912 — March 7, 2010

Ruby Thayes Anderson, daughter of the late Joseph and Phoebe (Livingston) Shannon, the second of five children, was born on August 15, 1912 in Douglas County, Missouri, and departed this life on March 7, 2010 in the Landmark Villa in Cabool, Missouri, following a month long illness. She had made her home in Landmark Villa for the past 2 ½ years. She was 97 years, 6 months and 19 days of age.
Ruby grew up in Douglas County and attended the Fairview School. She was united in marriage to Homer Anderson in June 6, 1929. Five children were born to this union. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Republic, Missouri.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Homer Anderson in 1986; one brother: Ross Shannon; three sisters: Mabel Upshaw; Lucille Ketchum, and Elsie Canada; and by her daughter: Roberta Mae (Wally) Hopper in 1979 at the age of 42, which brought the greatest sadness to her life; and by a daughter-in-law; Kathleen Anderson who called Ruby and Homer “mom and dad”.
Ruby is survived by three sons: Lyle Anderson and his wife, Laura, of Buffalo, Iowa, Kenneth Anderson and his wife, Barbara, of Mtn. Grove, and Allen Anderson of Walsenburg, Colorado; one daughter: Brenda Sias and her husband, Steve, of Webster Grove, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Ruby lived to an older age than anyone in her family and was the last member of her generation of the Shannon and Anderson families.

Wednesday, March 10th, 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Tuesday, March 9th, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the funeral home.

Denlow Cemetery
