Ruth H. Barnett

February 27, 1925 — August 6, 2015

Ruth Helen (Amos) Barnett, daughter of the late Henry and Golda (McMurtrey) Amos, was born on February 27, 1925, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, and departed this life on August 6, 2015, in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center of Mountain Grove. She was 90 years, 5 months, and 9 days of age.
Ruth grew up in the Mountain Grove area and attended school in Mountain Grove. She was saved at a young age and attended the First Baptist Church of Mountain Grove. Ruth married Coy Barnett. Two sons, Vernon and Dick, were born to this union. Ruth and Coy enjoyed their boys very much and especially enjoyed watching them play softball.
Ruth worked for the Brown Shoe Company for 30 years. She and her husband bought a small farm where Ruth enjoyed raising calves, gardening, and working in the yard. She had many friends who loved her so much. Ruth and Coy loved going to ballgames and visiting with friends.
Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Barnett; and by two sons: Vernon and Dick Barnett.
She is survived by two sisters: Ruby Lyman of Independence, Missouri, and Cleta June Carter and husband, Edwin, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; one granddaughter: Vicki Sue Whitehead and husband, Mark, of St. Louis, Missouri; two great-grandchildren: Danielle and Austin Whitehead; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends who will miss her dearly.


Funeral Service: Monday, August 10, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.

Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery

Memorial Contributions: Wright County Childrens Home c/o the funeral home.
