Shelby Jean Crewse

Shelby Jean Crewse, daughter of the late Claude and Roxie (Whited) Stigall, was born on December 16, 1939, in Hartville, Missouri, and departed this life on August 13, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was 76 years, 7 months, and 28 days of age.
Shelby was raised in Hartville, Missouri. She moved to Mountain Grove when she was 15 years old. At the age of 16, Shelby was united in marriage to Leavern Crewse on October 31, 1957, in Wright County, Missouri. Five children were born to this union: Dwight, Mike, Mona, Cathy, and Elizabeth.
When they were young, Shelby and her brother, Stanley, enjoyed putting on plays in the front yard for people. Shelby loved playing bingo and cards, and reading books. She enjoyed many fun years at the caf, with people giving her a hard time with their jokes and pranks.
In addition to her parents, Shelby was preceded in death by her husband, Leavern Crewse, in 1979; an infant son: Dwight Crewse; three brothers: Stanley, Jerry, and Carol; and one great-granddaughter: AnnaBeth Prock.
She is survived by one son: Michael Crewse of Laddonia, Missouri; three daughters: Mona Price and John Cooper of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Cathy Hicks and her husband, Randy, of Manes, Missouri, and Elizabeth Crewse of Mountain Grove, Missouri; one brother: Arliss Stigall and his wife, Judy, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; eleven grandchildren: Stephen, Chelsea, Brandon, Brittney, Bethany, Joel, Rachel, Whitney, Ethan, Charles, and Bridgett; twenty-three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Visitation: Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.

Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery

Memorial Contributions: In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Shelby's name in care of the funeral home.
