Shirley Emery

Shirley Emery, daughter of the late John Clyde and Rena Jane (Quick) McCarty, was born November 18, 1943, and passed away April 7, 2021, at her home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, at 77 years of age.

Shirley attended Vanzant School. She was baptized at the age of ten, also in Vanzant. Shirley married the love of her life, Fred Emery, on November 9, 1961, in Mountain Grove. Fourteen children were born to this union.

Shirley enjoyed watching the Cardinals play baseball, especially when they were winning. She also liked gardening, bird watching and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley had many hobbies but being with her family brought her great pleasure.

After raising her children, she started working at McKinley Janitorial Service and then later purchased the business. After working there for several years, she worked for Walmart before retiring.

Besides her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, in 1996, and two sons, Luther Emery and Tony Emery, one granddaughter, Melanie Emery, one son-in-law, OH Noble, and three brothers, Eugene McCarty, Leo McCarty, and Gerald McCarty.

She is survived by twelve children, Tammy Emery (Mitchell), Tom Emery, Linda Noble, Randy Emery (Lisa), John Emery (Diana), Fred Emery (Liana), Betty Emery, Melissa Willhite (Bobby), Margie Emery (Justin), Charlotte Emery, David Emery (Courtney), and Chris Emery (Jeannie), two daughters-in-law, Stacy and Tonya Emery, 24 grandchildren, Cheryl, Jason, Justin, Stephanie, Courtney, Allison, Janice, Emily, Taylor, Holden, Caitlin, Amanda, Shirley, Samantha, Jordan, Melinda, Dustin, Payton, Collin, Kris, Olivia, Audrey, Ethan, and Madison, 32 great-grandchildren, one sister, Violet Davis, and many other relatives, neighbors, and friends.
