Sterling Price Molloy

November 4, 1925 — March 11, 2009

Sterling Price “Jake” Molloy, son of the late Jacob and Gladys (Schranhorst) Molloy, was born on November 4, 1925 in Marshall, Missouri and departed this life on March 11, 2009 at his residence in Branson, Missouri. He was 83 years, 4 months and 7 days of age.
Jake grew up in Sweet Springs, Missouri and graduated from Sweet Springs High School in 1943. He served his country in the United Stats Army during World War II where he received a Purple Heart.
Jake was united in marriage to Pauline “Polly” Seratt on October 10, 1955 in Higginsville, Missouri. Together they raised five children.
Jake was employed as a mechanic for Jack Gosh Ford in Hemet, California for a few years and later became a service manager for the company.
In 1979, he and Polly moved to Mtn. Grove, Missouri where they opened Polly’s Café on the square. They ran the café until November of 1987. In 2005 they moved to Branson, Missouri where they were living at the time of his passing.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting, fishing, and fixing things.
Jake was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Perry Molloy; and by two sisters: Ella Mae Sawyers and Helen Clevenger.
He is survived by his loving wife: Pauline “Polly” Molloy of their home; two sons: Glen Molloy and his wife, Carolyn, of Concordia, Missouri, and Larry Holland and his wife, Vickie, of Petaluma, California; three daughters: Donna Shelp of Warrensburg, Missouri, Carolyn Molloy of the State of Missouri and Dianne Todd of the State of Oklahoma; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Graveside Service:
Friday, March 13th at 10:00 AM in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery on Southwood in Springfield.
Visitation:
Thursday, March 12th from 7:00 - 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
Burial:
Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri with full military honors.
