She returned to Mountain Grove and lived in an apartment complex. When her health started failing, she moved to Autumn Oaks Caring Center.

Sue was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Owens, and by two brothers, Gene Owens and Gary Owens.

She is survived by one brother, Frank Owens, Jr. and his wife, Sylvia, four nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, and other friends and neighbors who will miss her.
