Susie 'Sue' (Grantham) Jones

Susie “Sue” Jones, daughter of the late Floyd and Flora (Killingsworth) Grantham, was born on February 24, 1921 in Harold, Missouri and departed this life on July 10, 2013 at her residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a short illness. She was 92 years of age.
Sue grew up in Missouri and was united in marriage to Loyd Jones on December 21, 1945 in Mtn. Grove. Six children were born to this union. They raised their family and made their home in Mtn. Grove. She and Loyd were married for over fifty years. He passed away in 1998.
Sue chose being a school teacher as her profession. She dearly loved children and was never more content than when reading to a child or holding their hand as they explored their world.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove for seventy years. She served as a teacher for children, youth, and adult classes, as well as, a WMU leader and supporter for the church’s’ various outreach activities. She was a talented seamstress; sewing everything from children’s clothes to Christmas costumes to colorful quilts.
Sue was a loving, caring, and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: her twin, Silas Grantham, and Gene Grantham; a son-in-law: Larry Johnston; and by a grandson: John Johnston.
She is survived by three sons: Douglas Lee Jones and his wife, Cindy, of Brentwood, Tennessee, Dennis Gene Jones and her wife, Karen, of Huntington, Indiana, and Donald Loyd Jones and his wife, Kellie, of Nixa, Missouri; three daughters: Mary Sue Johnston of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Marjorie Ann Melton and her husband, Doug, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Marsha Kay Schutt and her husband, Craig, of Nixa, Missouri; one brother: Roy Grantham and his wife, JoAnn, of Willard, Missouri; two sisters-in-law: Helen Grantham of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Lucille Grantham of Walnut Grove, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives, friends, church family and neighbors.
