Talmadge 'Tim' J. Sloan

Talmadge J. “Tim” Sloan, son of the late Ora Clyde and Rozella (Phipps) Sloan, was born on July 24, 1927 in Oregon County, Missouri and departed this life on June 18, 2011 in Brookhaven Health Care in Springfield, Missouri, following an extended illness. He was 83 years, 10 months and 25 days of age.
Tim grew up and attended school in Douglas County, Missouri in the Topaz area. He was united in marriage to Vonnie Hitchcock on November 14, 1954 in Mountain Grove, Missouri and one daughter was born to this union.
Tim worked at the Fordick Plant and Casey’s Furniture Factory in Mountain Grove and later did carpentry work before he retired. In his earlier years he liked to hunt and fish. He enjoyed going to the Senior Center to eat and visit with friends and he especially enjoyed square dancing and the two-step. He loved spending time with friends and family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Vonnie, on June 15, 2001; one brother: Willie Sloan; one half-brother: Delbert Sloan; one sister: Lorene Sloan; two half-sisters: Viaetta Boltjies and Evalena Graton; one brother-in-law: Herbert Macomber; two infant brothers and one infant sister.
He is survived by his daughter and her husband: Priscilla and Crayton Groat of Mountain Grove, Missouri; two sisters: Audra Macomber of Springfield, Missouri and Lyda Fay Wheat and her husband, Jack of Vanzant, Missouri; other relatives, friends and neighbors who will sadly miss him.
