Teresa Ann Top

March 19, 1967 — January 25, 2011

Teresa Ann Top, daughter of Vaughn and Sharlene (Mayfield) Mowan, was born on March 19, 1967 in Columbia, Missouri and departed this life on January 25, 2011 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, following an extended illness. She was 43 years, 10 months and 6 days of age.
Teresa attended grade school in Mtn. Grove and in 1979 she moved with her family to Oregon, where she attended West Lynn School and later modeling school. She was a contestant for Miss Teenage America Pageant and came in as First Runner Up. She later returned to the Mtn. Grove area.

Teresa married Leon Top on November 12, 1999 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Together they have four children.
At five years of age, Teresa had rheumatic Fever which put her in bed for 1 ½ years; at 13 years of age she had Scoliosis (curvature of the spine); at age 16 she had a heart condition and when she was 22 years old, she had a heart attack. These illnesses never slowed her down throughout her life. She was very outgoing, and devoted many years of her life to serving the community; from raising money for Toys For Tots, the Senior Center, donating outfits for each child at the back-to-school fair, and donating clothes to the Wright County Children’s Home. In addition, Teresa was the founder of the Fairy Godmother program that provides prom dresses for girls to make sure that no girl misses her prom due to not having a proper dress. She also worked closely with the Community Partnership of the Ozarks to implement programs for awareness and prevention of youth drug and alcohol abuse. She also served on the Pregnancy Resource Center Board, which was her greatest passion. Teresa owned and operated a clothing store in Mtn. Grove called Genesis Clothing which was a resale shop. Proceeds from this would go to help victims of domestic violence and numerous other projects.
She was always there for anyone around her who had a need.
Teresa was a loving and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and neighbor. She loved her family very much and will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Cabool, Missouri and enjoyed attending services as long as her health permitted.
She is survived by her husband: Leon Top of their home in Cabool, Missouri; one daughter: Teascha (McKinley) Hulbert and her husband, Kevin, of Mtn. Grove; two grandchildren: Kaylee and Gabriel Hulbert and another little boy due in May; her mother and step-father: Sharlene and Jerry Bradley of Mtn.
