Thomas Edward Baker

April 20, 1943 — February 14, 2022

Thomas Edward Baker, son of Loman and Rosalie Bane Baker, was born April 20, 1943, in Hagerstown, Maryland, and departed this life on February 14, 2022, at his home south of Seymour, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, nine months, and twenty-four days.

On March 12, 1964, he wed the love of his life, Kathleen Scofield, and to this union four children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kathleen, on April 22, 2020, daughter-in-law, Charlene Baker, and four brothers, Richard, Philip, Harry, and Olan Baker.

Tom is survived by two daughters, Tammy and Nelson Sandoval of Seymour, Missouri, and Kim and Tim Miller of Ozark, Missouri; two sons, Joseph Baker and Lynnette Flanders of Mansfield, and Christopher Baker of Mountain Grove, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren with one more on the way, and one great-great grandson; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He served his country faithfully in the United States Army and Airforce. After serving, he spent time as a police officer in Phoenix, Arizona, and eventually retired as a diesel mechanic. The Bakers moved from Rhode Island to Nevada, and several places in between. They retired near Seymour in rural Douglas County, Missouri about six years ago.

Tom was a member of the VFW in Ava, Civil Air Patrol, and Mansfield Lodge #543 A.F. & A.M.

He was quite a talented man who had many skills. He could do anything from playing any musical instrument (he had played in an Irish Band) to building homes and sew elaborate wedding dresses for his children and grandchildren.

Family was very important to him, and we will miss him dearly, but we know how heartbroken he was after mom died and nothing could take her place. Rest in peace, Dad.

No services are planned at this time.
