Tinty 'Lorene' Hicks

Tinty Lorene (Barlett) Hicks, was born on January 18, 1923 in Salem, Missouri and departed this life on Janaury 24, 2011. She was the daughter of Wilbur Oscar Barlett and Nancy Megnola (Newberry) Barlett. She was one of twelve children; all preceding her in death except one sister, Zola Mcinnis.

Lorene was married to Herbert Otis Hicks. Nine children were born to this union: Eva Lu, Ava Nell, Sherry, Billie, Regina, Gary, Brenda, Keith, and David.

Tinty was saved and baptized the 24th day of September, 1950. She was a member of the Cold Springs Free Will Church of Norwood, Missouri.

Lorene was preceded in death by two children: Gary and Brenda; four sons-in-law: Dennis Hartley, Jesse Sanders, Bobby Bennett and Bob Helums; one daughter-in-law: Rita Hicks; one grandson: Jerald Bennett.


She is survived by: Eva Lu Hartley, Spirit Lake, Idaho; Ava Nell Sanders, Norwood, Missouri; Sherry Bennett, Ava, Missouri; Billie and Cheryl Hicks, Norwood, Missouri, Regina Helums and John Spiva, Norwood, Missouri; Keith and Doris Hicks, Bly, Oregon; David and Marilyn Hicks, Macomb, Missouri: one sister: Zola Mcinnis, of the State of South Carolina; twenty grandchildren; forty-eight great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren.

Lorene lived her life in and around Ava, Mtn. Grove and Norwood areas.


She liked making quilts and raising flowers in her later years of life. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, friends and family. She loved and will be greatly missed by many.

No Formal - Friends may sign the register book after 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 27th in the funeral home.
