Tressie (McGinnis) Sellars was the first child born to David A. and Jessie E. (Chaffin) McGinnis on September 21, 1912 in Christian County, Missouri near Ozark. She went home to be with the Lord on July 9, 2011 in the Rocky Ridge Manor in Mansfield, Missouri, due to the ravages of Alzheimer Disease. She was 98 years, 9 months, and 18 days of age.

In 1987, she returned to the beautiful Ozarks where her sons lived to enjoy gardening, canning, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Tressie was always industrious and ambitious. From an early age she was in church. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at age nine and faithfully served throughout her life. She joined the First Baptist Church in Norwood where she served as a Sunday School teacher and a literacy teacher.
Tressie was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Wayne McGinnis, Wade McGinnis, Louis McGinnis and Lee McGinnis; two sisters: Betty Keller and Chloe Horton; a granddaughter: Terra (Sellars) Miller; and by a great-grandson: Jonathan David Sellars.
