Troy Burney

August 22, 1928 — March 8, 2013

Troy Burney, son of the late W.A. and Dulcie (Austin) Burney, was born on August 22, 1928 in Manes, Missouri, and departed this life on March 8, 2013 at his residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a long illness. He was 84 years, 6 months, and 14 days of age.

Troy grew up and attended school in Wright County and attended college for one year. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged and retired after twenty-two years on May 31, 1968. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division as a Paratrooper. He served in the Korean War, and was a recruiter prior to his retirement.

He was united in marriage to Lola Mae Sanders on April 2, 1946 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri.

Troy was called into the ministry and was a Free Will Baptist Minister for many years. He pastored churches in Alaska, Texas, and Missouri.

Troy was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and neighbor. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter: Sandra Faye Lowrance; five brothers: Albert Burney, Claude Burney, Nolan Burney, Glenn Burney and Ray Burney; and by two sisters: Faye Moore and Mary Mae Jennings.
Troy is survived by his loving wife: Lola Mae Burney of their home; four daughters: Sherlyn Blackwell and her husband, Dale, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Glenda Delcour and her husband, Danny, of Houston, Missouri, Debbie Crisp of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Dayla Burney and her husband, David, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; nine grandchildren: Terri Tango, Bill Lowrance, David Blackwell, Dennis Blackwell, Derek Blackwell, Michael Delcour, Sarah Green, Kimberly Crisp, and Nathaniel Kalnas; fourteen great-grandchildren; and other relatives, church family and friends.

Monday, March 11, 2013 at 10:00 AM

Visitation:
Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
