Velma Jane Adams

Velma Jane Adams, daughter of the late Russell and Mary (Randall) Johnson, was born on January 31, 1928 at Solo, Missouri in Texas County, and passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2010 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri at 82 years of age.
Velma grew up in the Elk Creek Community and attended Cabool High School. She was united in marriage to Donald G. Adams on January 10, 1947 in Hardy, Arkansas. Three children were born to this union. They raised their family on a farm north of Mtn. Grove. Velma was employed by the Brown Shoe Company for several years. She enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, going to yard sales and she also liked to do embroidery work.
Velma was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will truly be missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was a long time member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mtn. Grove. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Donald on June 2, 2003; two brothers: Marvin and Jim Johnson; and one sister: Frances Miller.
She is survived by two sons: Chris Adams of Carthage, Missouri and Pat Adams and his wife, Andrea, of Rogersville, Missouri; one daughter: Janie Fletcher and her husband, Bill, of Graff, Missouri; two brothers: Gene Johnson of Collinsville, Illinois and Doc Johnson of Mtn. Grove; three sisters: Dorothy Cape of Willow Springs, Missouri, Nadine Rust of Cabool, Missouri and Ruby Rice of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren: Alex, Mallori, Mary Beth, B.J., and Bethanny; two great-grandchildren: Justin and Makayla; one great-great-grandson: Devin; and a host of relatives, neighbors and friends.

Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
