Velma (Lawson) Knox

October 26, 1939 — November 21, 2013

Velma (Lawson) Knox, daughter of the late Andrew and Dove (Boykin) Lawson, was born October 26, 1939 in Graff, Missouri, and departed this life on November 21, 2013 after a long illness. She was 74 years and 26 days old.
Velma grew up in Graff, Missouri, and married the love of her life, Kenneth D. Knox, in 1956. To this union four sons were born, three of which are surviving. Velma struggled with kidney disease early in her adult life but she never let it slow her down. She was passionate in life concerning her faith, her family, and her love of antiques. She was known to many in the community. If a stranger crossed her path, they weren’t strangers for long. She was a long time member of the Cabool Church of Christ and her presence there will be missed. She loved to bowl and spend time with family and friends, whether on trips and outings or just hanging out.
Besides her parents, Velma was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael Darrel, and her husband, Kenny, along with three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her three sons: Kenneth A Knox (Pat) and his wife, Mona, of Kearney, Missouri, Tim Knox of Springfield, Missouri, and Steve Knox of Mountain Grove; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister: Charlene Knox of Kerrville, Texas; three brothers: Tom Lawson and his wife, Margaret, of Bryan, Ohio, Chuck Lawson and his wife, Dorothy, of Strafford, Missouri, and Ben Lawson of Springfield, Missouri; and a host of other family members and friends, all of whom were very special people in her life.
