Vera Mae Rowland

Vera Mae Rowland, daughter of the late Floyd and Mae (Ryan) Hylton, was born on January 5, 1910 in Norwood, Missouri and passed away on July 22, 2008 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. She was 98 years 6 months and 17 days of age.
Vera grew up and attended school in the Norwood area. She was united in marriage to Willie Rowland. Two children were born to this union. They reared their family in the Norwood area. Mr. Rowland passed away in 1970.
Vera was a lifelong farmer’s wife and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking for her family and making sure her house was in order. She was saved and baptized at an early age and was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Norwood at the time of her passing.
Besides her parents and husband, Vera was preceded in death by one daughter: Thelma Hylton; three brothers: Eldon, Melvin and Hubert Hylton; and by a sister: Fern Standley.
She is survived by one son: Vernon Rowland and his wife, Dottie, of Woodward, California; a son-in-law: Joe Hylton and his wife, Mary, of Mtn. Grove; three grandsons: Lloyd Hylton, Lonnie Hylton and Michael Rowland; 4 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services for Vera Rowland were held Thursday, July 24, 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church, Mtn. Grove, with Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Diana Edwards accompanied by Nancy Doty sang “Blessed Assurance,” and “Wish You Were Here.” Pallbearers were Jack Hylton, Russell Brown, Norman Freeman, Lloyd Hylton, Lonnie Hylton and Shane Hylton. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.

Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church, Mtn. Grove.
Visitation:
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM before the service at the church.

Hillcrest Cemetery
