Veva Jane Ipock

April 10, 1914 — August 6, 2008

Veva Jane (Stillwell) Ipock, was born on April 10, 1914 in the Topaz area of Douglas County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Everett B. and Dora (Coble) Stillwell. She departed this life on August 6, 2008 in the Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool, Missouri at 94 years, 4 months and 27 days of age.
Following the death of her mother, when Veva was two years of age, she, her brother, Gene “Curly” and their sister, Nina were raised by their maternal grandparents: Alfred and Xeriviah (Wood) Coble on their Douglas County farm. Veva always spoke of what a privilege and joy it was to grow up in such a loving family of many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Veva attended the Little Coble School in Douglas County for the first eight grades, she then roomed with the Archer family in Mtn. Grove, helping with the housework and caring for their children in order to attend high school.
She was united in marriage to Clifford Ipock. They established their home on a farm in Douglas County. In the early 1950’s, the family moved to Modesto, California, where Veva lived until 1994 when she returned to the Mtn. Grove area.
Her children and grandchildren were always the joy of her life. Many of them remained in California, so she had the opportunity to pursuit another joy in life, that of travel on a Greyhound bus.
Wherever she lived, she kept a very nice home and a yard filled with flowers. She loved people and was always friendly and had a smile for everyone.
Another pleasure of life for her was the service the OATS bus provided such as; trips to Branson shows, shopping in Springfield, Lebanon, West Plains and three days a week to Wal-Mart, also the beauty salon on Fridays.
Veva suffered a stroke in 2007 and became a resident of the Kabul Nursing Home until her death. She still retained her wonderful spirit and sense of humor, truly appreciating and loving those who cared for her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother: Gene “Curly” Stillwell; one sister: Nina (Stillwell) Roberts; two sons: David of California and Cliff of Cabool, Missouri; one daughter: Carol Abercrombie of California; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving family: Bob Ipock and his wife, Merlene, Ben Ipock and Shirley Reed, Dorlea Hudspeth, Pat Loomis and her husband, Lyle, all of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, Jean Bunnell of the State of Colordao, Mary Hernandez and her husband, Alex, and Judi Stillwell, all of the State of California, Renee’ Glaspie and her husband, Bob, of the State of Washington; she is also survived by thirty-one grandchildren; fifty-eight great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren; one niece: Betty Sweetman; three nephews: John and Jim Roberts, all of the State of Colorado, and Ron Stillwell of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; a son-in-law: Don Abercrombie of the State of California; and many other relatives and friends, especially these who made Veva’s last years pleasant: Margie Comstock, her faithful ride to church; Lela Riley, a neighbor and yard sale buddy; the Gilley family for Saturday morning breakfast, and Janet Chapin and Paulette Waggle, the OATS bus drivers.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
