Virgie Lee (Sawyers) Davis

August 11, 1940 — April 4, 2022

Virgie Lee (Sawyers) Davis, daughter of the late Norman “Celia” and Nadine Mavis (Cook) Sawyers, was born August 11, 1940, at Hartville, Missouri. She went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2022, at 81 years of age.

Virgie married Norman Lester “Pete” Davis on October 3, 1957, and to this union six children were born, Janet, Deborah, Diana Jo, Brenda Kay, Norm, and Karen.

Prior to retirement, Virgie worked as forklift driver for French’s Mustard. She enjoyed attending estate sales, camping, fishing, gambling, visiting the casino, and cooking. She was a master gardener and loved talking on the phone. She wasn’t good with goodbyes, but she’d eventually give you her signature sign off of “Anyway, anyhow, bye, bye, bye”. Virgie could never pass up a pair of shoes; she loved shopping. She had a natural contagious smile and was someone who never knew a stranger. Above all else, Virgie was a devoted wife and loving mother. She always wanted to be a mother, and she was a great one!

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Davis, two grandsons, Drew and Winston, three brothers, Donald, Bernadine “Bump”, and Norman, and one sister Elizabeth “Toot”.

She is survived by her children, Janet Fiorini and husband, James, of Nixa, Missouri, Deborah Davis of Colfax, California, Diana Jo Morgan of Colfax, California, Brenda Kay Buckler of Hartville, Missouri, Norm Davis and wife, Stephanie, of Buffalo, Missouri, and Karen Swearengin of Springfield, Missouri, a step-son, Glen Davis and wife, Katherine, of Irvins, Utah, 26 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, four brothers, Vernon Sawyers and wife, Sharon, of Hartville, Missouri, Ronnie Sawyers and wife, Della, of Hartville, Missouri, Roger Sawyers and wife, Marlene, of Seymour, Missouri, and Verdon “Doc” Sawyers and wife, Joy, of Hartville, Missouri, a sister, Vickie Benson and husband, Ronnie, of Seymour, Missouri, her fur baby, Tiger, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
