Wallace 'Wally' C. Moore

November 16, 1951 — August 7, 2010

With family gathered in his home Saturday morning, August 7, 2010, Wallace Cary Moore went to join his mother in the “House of the Lord” forever. The Heavenly Choir now has a “new lead singer.”
Wallace Cary Moore was born on November 16, 1951 to Shirley and Mary (Dennis) Moore in the home of his grandparents on the family farm.
Wally, as everyone knew him, grew up on the farm helping his dad and grandpa, driving the tractor and farm trucks by the time he was eight. He was always at his dad’s side and they grew to be more than father and son. Dad was his best friend until the day he died. There will never be a father and son closer than they were.
Wally never met a stranger and he left everyone with stories and laughter that they will never forget. Many remember him for his many years of singing the gospel with Terry McKinney, Jackie Stephensen, Dallas Moore and his sister Glenda. The guys soon learned that they just had to follow his lead, because if he forgot the song, he would just make up his own words. They traveled to many churches, singing and of course Wally would always have to share a funny story.
He was a member of the Rock Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and was baptized in the Whetstone Creek. He loved sharing the story of how they had to move a layer of ice aside to baptize him, and he didn’t even catch a cold. Of course every time he told the story, the ice got thicker!
Wally wanted to become a preacher like his great uncle, Neal Moore, but that wasn’t in God’s plan, however he had his own way of sharing the glory of God and being a good witness. His witness through song and his never ending love for people, and helping anyone he could will leave a seed in everyone he touched.
On December 10, 1971, Wally married Patricia Hannah, with whom he had two precious girls, Darcy and Shayla.
On March 1, 1991, he marred Lisa Postlewait. She brought to him three more precious girls, LeaAnne, Tessa and Kristin, whom he loved as his own. If you would have asked him lately how many girls he had, he would have told you six. Five of their own and one adopted, Dawn Fisher, who became a part of the family about three and a half years ago. Who but Wally could have seven women in the house and still joke about it?
Wally was a hard worker and again left his mark wherever he was employed. He worked for Carps Department Store in Ava, Glen’s Propane, Richard Brothers Grocery and Feed Store, Worrell Transport and many years as an over the road truck driver. In the past thirteen years, he and Lisa drove as a team for IWX. He was given a certificate just a couple of weeks ago for driving one million, five hundred thousand miles.
Wally loved to hunt and fish with his dad and other family and friends. Even after he was told there was nothing else medicine could do for him, he hoped he could feel strong enough to fish a few more times with his dad. The Lord took him before he got that chance, but his dad says he is fishing in that crystal clear water now and you can’t beat that!
There was nothing more important in his life than his family. He wasn’t ready to leave them, but he knew God had other plans for him. He was looking forward to going to Heaven to reunite with his mother and grandparents.
He leaves behind his precious wife: Lisa, to carry on his memories with their children; Darcy Harris and husband, Jared, of Mtn. Grove, Shayla Henrich and husband, Jed, of Marcus, Iowa, LeaAnne Mings of Lebanon, Missouri, Tessa Prock and Dawn Fisher, both of Springfield, Missouri, and Kristin Honeycutt of Houston, Missouri; eleven grandchildren: Austin Moore, Kaela Smith, Taeler Smith, Mackenna Henrich, Caedyn Henrich, Emily Honeycutt, Music Mings, Audrina Mings, Zachary Mings, Hailie Mings and Kamren Harris; his father: Shirley Moore of Norwood, Missouri; two sisters: Glenda Moore of Forsyth, Missouri and Linda Moore of California, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was waiting for his first great-grandson: Zachary Wallace Moore who is due to be born around September 28th. I’m sure he will be looking down on that little fella and sending his blessings.
Wally said, “Don’t morn for me, just remember me with laughter!” He wanted everyone to know, that he has gone to a better place and he will leave the light on for each of you.
