Walter Keith Stafford

May 1, 1928 — August 28, 2022

Walter Keith Stafford, son of James Sydney Stafford and Sarah Ethel Morris Stafford, was born May 1, 1928, in Cotter, Arkansas and departed this life August 28, 2022, at Glenwood Healthcare Center in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of 94 years, 3 months, and 27 days.

On September 1, 1948, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Alice Owens in Imperial, Nebraska, and to this union five children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marjorie, on December 6, 2021, daughter, Anita Joyce Stafford, sister, Vera Hodges, and brothers, Ralph, Elvin, Harley, and Weldon Stafford.

Walter is survived by his children, Dale Stafford and wife, Glenda, of Rogersville, Missouri, Diana Satterfield and husband, Jim, of Ava, Missouri, Donnie Stafford and wife, Lynetta, and Doris Shover and husband, Steve, all of Seymour, Missouri; grandchildren, Jennifer Coffman, Melissa Crocker, Shelly Lee, Jamie Cottrell, Damon Stafford, Rodney Stafford, Amber Davis, and Cody Shover; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Melvin Owens of Seymour; sister-in-law, Virginia Reynolds of Sherwood, Arkansas; many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

He was a lifelong carpenter and worked at Hutchens’ Industries in Seymour for 9 years, retiring in 1990.

Walter made a profession of faith in Christ earlier in life and attended Harvestime Tabernacle Church in Marshfield for many years and has been attending Diggins Apostolic Church (now Greater Life Apostolic Church) for the last 5 years. He was very active in the church and especially “pushed” the peanut brittle during the holidays to help raise money for the church.

In his spare time, he liked to read, play cards, especially Phase 10 and Uno, and go to McDonald’s. Walter never met a stranger and loved to visit with everyone.

Walter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his long life and have many wonderful memories that we will always cherish.
