Wanda Lou Brown

January 28, 1939 — December 10, 2009

Wanda Lou Brown, daughter of the late Nova and Flo (Hodgson) Martin, was born on January 28, 1939 in Sycamore, Missouri and departed this life on Thursday, December 10, 2009 in the St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 70 years, 11 months, and 12 days of age.
Wanda grew up and attended school in Ozark County in the Sycamore area and graduated from high School in Dora, Missouri in 1957. She was united in marriage to Willie Brown Jr. on May 30, 1959 in Sycamore, Missouri. Two daughters, Tammy and Beth Ann were born to this union. They made their home in the Mtn. Grove community since 1976.
Wanda was employed by the Brown Shoe Company for twenty years. She enjoyed taking care of her family and visiting with her many friends.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother sister and friend. She liked being outdoors, especially when tending to her flower gardens. She also enjoyed doing flower arranging and cooking. She was well known for her wonderful pumpkin pies. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Wanda was saved and baptized at an early age. She enjoyed attending church services as long as her health permitted.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Glain Martin.
She is survived by her husband: Willie Brown Jr. of their home; two daughters: Tammy Messerer and her husband, Lane, and Beth Ann Brown, all of Mtn. Grove; one brother: Shorty Martin and his wife, Martha, of Dora, Missouri; two sisters: Virginia Berry and Scharlotte Johnson and her husband, Lonnie, all of West Plains, Missouri; a sister-in-law: Sue Martin; four grandchildren: Seath Hern, Kahley Messerer, and Ariel Messerer, all of Mtn. Grove and Shawsha Scott of Joplin, Missouri; one great-granddaughter: Sheridan Scott; nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services:
Tuesday, December 15th at 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Monday, December 14th, 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
