William Booth

William Booth completed his journey in this world on April 4, 2021, at his home outside Mountain Grove, Missouri, where he had been a resident after retiring in 2010 to fulfill his life-long dream of owning a farm.

Bill Booth was born on November 8, 1936 in Liberal, Kansas, to Dennis Maxwell Booth and Catherine Mildred Hart. He was the only boy of 4 children. Bill was a Korean War Veteran having served from 1954-1958 with the 4050th Air Refueling Wing stationed at Thule AFB in Greenland. After returning home, he married his wife Betty JoAnn Killough on April 26, 1959. They remained in Liberal raising seven children. Bill worked for Pepsi Bottling Company, Ideal Warehouse and Nash Finch before becoming a local business owner. He was able to purchase the B&B Overnite Camp, which he and his wife operated 33 years until their retirement in 2010.

Bill enjoyed many things, but he especially loved gardening, tractors, woodworking, having barbeques and social gatherings, as well as the cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and scenery on his farm.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty of 60 years of marriage; sister, Betty Jean Hanley, sister, Virginia Helsel, granddaughter, Melissa Burtlow, and niece, Vicky Hellen.

Bill is survived by a sister, Sharon Wilkerson of Longview, Washington; three daughters: Susan Booth, Liberal, Kansas, Karen Eggers and husband Billy, Marlow, Oklahoma, and Melody Galloway and husband Lewis, Mountain Grove, Missouri; four sons: Riley Booth and wife Jimmie, Liberal, Kansas, Terry Booth and wife Leticia, Liberal, Kansas, Steven Booth and wife Diana, Atchison, Kansas, and James Booth and wife Debra, Turpin, Oklahoma. In addition, he is survived by 30 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill will be missed by long-time aides Misty Gragg and Sandra Stauffer.
