William James Snell

William James Snell, son of the late Floyd and Frances (Piontek) Snell, was born on June 22, 1950 in LaSalle, Illinois, and departed this life on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at his residence near Norwood, Missouri, following a short illness at 60 years of age.
William grew up in Illinois and in his early years he attended the St. Mary’s Catholic School and later the LaSalle Peru High School in LaSalle, Illinois.
He was united in marriage to Grace Meyer, daughter of David and Josephine Meyer, on September 9, 1978 in LaSalle, Illinois. One daughter was born to this union. He worked as a mechanic for Consolidated Freightways in Peru, Illinois and after moving to the Norwood area he was employed as a truck driver for Grisham Farm Products.
William was very fond of his Allis Chalmer tractor and he enjoyed the Old Iron Club Shows. He was also a railroad enthusiast.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Donald Piontek and John Joseph Snell.
He is survived by his wife: Grace Snell of their home; his son: Blue; his daughter: Janine Snell, all of Norwood, Missouri; two brothers: Floyd “Butch” Snell of LaSalle, Illinois, and Thomas Snell and Kristina McClenning, of Utica, Illinois; three sisters: Frances Snell of Utica, Illinois, Mary Ann (Snell) Kalisiak of Oglesby, Illinois, and Susan Snell of Utica, Illinois; a sister-in-law: Maureen Piontek of Omaha, Nebraska; his very close friends: Henry and Marcia Whipple and Russell Allen, all of Norwood, Missouri.
