Wilma Jean Thompson

Wilma Jean Thompson, daughter of the late George Dewey and Vivian (Cooper) Faulkner, was born on February 28, 1923 in Bucoda, Missouri in Dunklin County, and passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2008 in the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. She was 85 years, 2 months, and 27 days of age.
Jean grew up and attended school in Dunklin County and was united in marriage to Grover J. Thompson on March 9, 1939 in Cardwell, Missouri by Justice of the Peace Long. Two children were born to this union. They farmed near Senath in southeast Missouri and moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1962. They moved back to Missouri in 1965 to the Mtn. Grove area where they enjoyed farming. Mr. Thompson passed away on December 5, 1986.
Jean was living in Springfield, Missouri at the time of her passing.
She was a member of the Glendale Baptist Church in Springfield and enjoyed attending as long as her health permitted.
She liked being outdoors, especially when tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed cooking, quilting, sewing, oil painting, and playing on a bowling league while living in Mtn. Grove.
Jean loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them especially her grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Snooks, Carl and Harold Faulkner; and by one sister: Betty Faulkner.
She is survived by her son: Darrell Thompson of Springfield, Missouri; her daughter: Jurea Cardin of Springfield, Missouri; three brothers: Weldon Faulkner of Kennett, Missouri, Bobby Faulkner of Mtn. View, Missouri, and Paul Wayne Faulkner of Imperial, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.
