Zelda Faye Goodman

January 21, 1922 — August 30, 2009

Zelda Faye Goodman, daughter of the late George Cornilus “Beehunter” and Laura Tennessee (Barnard) Johnson, was born on January 21, 1922 in Macomb, Missouri and departed this life on August 30, 2009 at her home in Norwood, Missouri. She was 87 years, 7 months and 9 days of age.
Zelda grew up in the Shilo Community near Macomb and attended the Shilo School through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to John Chalmer Goodman. Four children were born to this union. Mr. Goodman passed away in January of 1983.
Zelda was employed by Tobin Hamilton Shoe Company in Mansfield, Missouri for several years. She also worked on their farm milking cows and raising beef cattle which made her have a strong work ethic all her life. She also tended to her vegetable garden each year raising and sharing her produce, especially her tomatoes.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Zelda was well known for putting other’s needs before her own. She enjoyed helping those around her whenever possible.
She gave her heart to the Lord at an early age and was baptized at the Shilo Church. She later rededicated her life in 1983.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons: Chalmer F. “Dink” Goodman in 1983 and Kenneth Lee Goodman in 2002; and by one brother and five sisters. She is survived by two daughters: Patsy Bradshaw and her husband, James, of Norwood, Missouri and Diane Cooley and Bill Bonnarens of Springfield, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren: Rhonda (Bradshaw) Coatney and her husband, David, Rusty Bradshaw and his wife, Kathy, Melina (Cooley) Taylor, Brad Cooley, all of Norwood, Missouri, Fedge Cooley and his wife, Marissa of Willard, Missouri, Kimberly Pauly and her husband, Michael, of Mtn. View, Missouri, Johnny Goodman of Vanzant, Missouri, Shawna Goodman of West Plains, Missouri, Kirk Goodman and Sheila Goodman of Kansas City, Missouri, Dana Fox, Stacy Shea, Sonya Goodman, Carol Goodman and Woody Goodman, all of Fort Smith, Arkansas; thirty-two great-grandchildren; twenty great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Pete Johnson of Martinez, California; a special niece: Betty Werle of Springfield, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Zelda was a very unique person who loved to make people laugh and will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
