Zella Faye Calhoun

October 1, 1947 — November 22, 2008

Zella Faye Calhoun, daughter the late Bollen and Anna Isabelle (Phipps) Holloway, was born October 1, 1947 near Lanton, Missouri, and departed this life November 22, 2008, at her home in Norwood, Missouri, at the age of 61 years, 1 month and 21 days.
Faye was born and raised in the Lanton, Missouri community and then moved with her family to the Thayer, Missouri area for a short time as a young child.
On December 16, 1963 Faye was united in marriage to Dean Calhoun in Mansfield, Missouri. Six daughters were born to this union. Dean and Faye made their home in Mansfield where they lovingly raised their children.
In addition to being a devoted homemaker for her family, Faye worked for the Tobin-Hamilton Shoe Factory for a number of years. She also worked in the health care field as a CNA.
Faye enjoyed fishing and playing bingo. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Faye was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was also a very caring neighbor and friend.
Faye had made her profession of faith in Christ and followed the Free Will Baptist doctrine throughout her life.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter; one great-grandson; one brother; two sisters; and an infant sister.
She is survived by her husband of almost 45 years: Dean Calhoun of their home in Norwood Missouri; six daughters: Cindy Calhoun of Mansfield, Missouri, Brenda Maggard and husband, Bill, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, Alice Wallace and husband, Ricky, of Norwood, Missouri, Alta Billups and husband, Marion, of Ava, Missouri, Deana Sprague of Cabool, Missouri, and Sharon Allmon and husband, Steve, of Theodosia, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother: Harold Holloway of Thayer, Missouri; three sisters: Joyce Todd and husband, David, of Neosho, Missouri, Cecile Wallin and husband, Jack, of Macomb, Missouri, and Kathy Alexander and husband, Burton, of Macomb, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
We celebrate her life and her accomplishments. We will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
Funeral services for Zella Faye Calhoun was held Tuesday, November 25, 2:00 PM in the Union Grove/Caudle Church with Rev. Zach Williams officiating. Song selections were “Long Black Train,” “Amazing Grace,” “Go Rest High On That Mountain. Amy Adler sang “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.” Pallbearers were Marion Billups, Bill MAggard, Kyle Rhodes, Steve Allmon, Glen Adler, and Jack Griffin. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Tilley and Ricky Wallace. Burial was in the Thomas Cemetery, Norwood, under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, MO.

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Union Grove/Caudle Church near Norwood, MO.
Visitation:
Tuesday, November 25, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the church.
Burial:
Thomas Cemetery, Norwood, MO
