Alasca Elizabeth (Gaddis) Harpster was born December 28, 1925, to Verl and Hattie (Baty) Gaddis in Redoak, Iowa. She passed on August 24, 2021, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 95 years, 7 months, and 27 days.
She grew up in Bendavis, Missouri, and graduated from Houston High School. Alasca was a Rosie Riveter during WWII. She was united in marriage to Ralph Harpster on October 28, 1945, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. Two sons were born to this union, David and Stephen.
Alasca worked at Brown Shoe Company for 18 years.
Alasca was an artist and enjoyed painting and doll making. She was also an avid reader. Alasca loved animals. She always had dogs and cats.
Alasca was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Harpster, son, Stephen Harpster, and sister, Allegra Colvin.
She is survived by her son, David Harpster and his wife, Peggy, grandchildren, Elizabeth Harpster (Tony Vermillion) and Andrea Harpster (Mark Duffy), and great-grandchildren, Lydia Vermillion and Vivian Vermillion.
