Alvin L. Leighty

October 31, 1926 — June 11, 2016

Alvin Lee Leighty, son of the late Oliver and Ethel P. (Zirschky) Leighty, was born on October 31, 1926, in Huggins, Missouri, and departed this life on June 11, 2016, at Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool, Missouri. He was 89 years, 7 months, and 11 days of age.
Alvin greatly enjoyed being outdoors and working on his farm. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed being around children and entertaining them. He considered his nieces and nephews as his grandchildren.
Alvin attended Rock Springs Church as long as his health permitted. His family was most important to him. Alvin was a kind and gentle man with a huge heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by one infant brother; two brothers: Oliver C. Leighty and John D. Leighty; and one sister: Blanche Kephart.
He is survived by three sisters: Effie Nichols of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Ida Romo and her husband, Richard, of Buckner, Missouri, and Ina Gillespie of Kansas City, Missouri; nephew Evert Leighty of Cabool, Missouri; and a host of other nieces and nephews.


Visitation: Friday, June 17, 2016, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.

Funeral Service: Friday, June 17, 2016, at 11:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.

Burial: Rock Springs Cemetery

Memorial Contributions: Kabul Nursing Home or Rock Springs Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
