Art Gatlin

August 26, 1969 — January 25, 2022

Arthur Daniel Gatlin Jr., son of the late Arthur Sr. and Mary (Trefz) Gatlin, was born August 26, 1969, in Kansas City, Missouri, and passed away January 25, 2022, in Prescott, Arkansas. He was 52 years and 5 months of age.

Art grew up in the Kansas City area and attended J.C. Harmon High School, and graduated from the CLC School in Kansas City, Kansas with the class of 1989. After school, he worked on grounds at the University of Kansas Medical Center for a few years, and also worked for Poor Boy Tree Service for a few years. Art then obtained his commercial driver’s license and was able to follow in his father’s footsteps as a truck driver. Art married Teresa on September 27, 2008. He and Teresa were able to team drive together for a while, and he also had the privilege of team driving with his son, Cody, for a few years. About two and a half years ago, Art’s dream of owning and operating his own truck came true, and he has been driving his own truck since then.

Art enjoyed football, and he especially loved the Kansas City Chiefs. He also loved smoking meat and cooking outdoors, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing as well. More than anything, he loved his family and enjoyed any time he could spend with them. His family was of utmost importance to him. Art was a genuinely great person who would give the shirt off of his back to anyone who needed it. He never met a stranger, and he enjoyed visiting with anyone who came across his path. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Sr. and Mary Gatlin.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Gatlin; six children, Amber and Dustin Gregg, Danielle Kava, Ryan Qualls and Carly Knight, Aaron and Travis Qualls, Cody Renfro, and Jennifer Gatlin and Tyler Curry; seven grandchildren, Lauryn Bergerhofer, Jonathon Gregg, Jacob Bergerhofer Jr., Sabrina Jenkins, Levi Gregg, Larrissa Gregg, and Maximus Curry; two great-grandchildren, Everleigh Miles and Jeremiah Bergerhofer; eight brothers and sisters, Teresa Suttles, Danny Gatlin, James and Kelli Gatlin, Debbie and John McJunkin, Ruth and Rob Hovermale, Mary Ann Gatlin, Matt and Amanda Gatlin, and Bruce and Julie Gatlin, and many nephews, nieces, and extended family and friends who will miss him.
