Benjamin Robert Ellis, 23, passed away on May 3, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Born on December 20, 2002, at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, Ben was deeply loved by his family and those fortunate enough to know him.
Ben is the son of Tommy Ellis and Leotta (Barnes) Ellis of Mountain Grove, Missouri. He shared close bonds with his siblings: Daniel Moore of Graff, Missouri, Ashley (Moore) Gonzalez of Lebanon, Missouri, Dameon Moore of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Preston Ellis of Ames, Iowa.
Besides his parents and his siblings, Ben is survived by his paternal grandparents, Loy Ellis and Arlene (Parsons) Ellis, and a host of other loving family members, including many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as others whose lives were touched by his presence.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Fern Barnes and Elma (Baker) Barnes.
Ben was known for his stubborn spirit and fierce loyalty. He could often be found listening to his favorite songs on repeat — especially Bob Seger’s “Shakedown,” a song that became unforgettable to anyone around him. He also had a special gift for quoting movie lines perfectly in the moment, bringing laughter and light to everyday life.
As we say goodbye, we choose not to dwell in sorrow, but to carry forward the light that was so generously shared with us. His laughter will forever echo in our memories, and his love remains a quiet, steady presence in our lives. Today, we celebrate an innocent spirit that was deeply cherished and memories that will never fade.
Ben will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.
