Betty Jo Browitt, daughter of the late Bill and Dessie Kelley, was born on February 1, 1942. She departed this earthly life into the arms of her savior on October 13, 2024, at the age of 82 years.
Betty grew up in the Hartville, Missouri, area and attended Dry Branch School. She was united in marriage to Jerry Browitt on September 8, 1959, and they had recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Two children were born to this union, Teresa Dorris Teske and Terry Browitt.
Betty worked at the Heel Factory in Hartville, and later worked at HD Lee Factory in Hartville for 23 years. She also worked on their family farm.
Betty’s hobbies included shopping at thrift stores, sewing, babysitting, and watching game shows. Her absolute favorite hobby was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
Betty loved the Lord and she attended Hill Top Pentecostal Church in Hartville for many years. In her later years, she attended First Baptist Church in Hartville as long as her health permitted.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Dessie Kelley, four sisters, Dorothy Weaver, Imogene Lowery, Fern Shaver, and Ida Buck, two brothers, Joe Kelley and George Kelley, and one son-in-law, Bill Dorris.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Browitt, one daughter, Teresa Teske and her husband, James, one son, Terry Browitt and his wife, Melissa, one granddaughter, Kristen Pyle and her husband, Doug, four grandsons, Chad Dorris, Nicholas Browitt, Nathan Browitt, and Josh Moreland and his wife, Lenae, one sister, Avis Carriager, one brother, Don Kelley, four great-grandchildren, JoLynn Pyle, Case Pyle, Elam Moreland, and Myron Moreland, and many other extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
