Bonnie Prock

December 13, 1932 — June 30, 2024

Mountain Grove

Bonnie Jean (Walker) Prock was born to William Francis Walker and Ina Opal (Mitchell) Walker on December 13, 1932, in Hartville, Missouri. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 30, 2024. She was 91 years of age.

Bonnie grew up in the Broyles community, attending Broyles School through eighth grade. She graduated from Mountain Grove High School with the Class of 1950.

Bonnie was united in marriage to James Carl Prock on October 24, 1952. To this union, three children were born: Barbara, David, and Daniel. Bonnie and Carl were blessed with 40 wonderful years of marriage. They truly loved and cared deeply for each other.

As a young wife, Bonnie worked at the Brown Shoe Factory. She then cared for her children, in the home, until they were all school age. It was at that time that she started working in the Mountain Grove Elementary Cafeteria, beginning a career that spanned 25 years. She was the Elementary School Kitchen Supervisor when she retired in 1993. Following Carl’s passing, Bonnie began working at Walmart and continued to do so for 13 years. During this time, she also volunteered by delivering meals to senior citizens, serving on the Wright County Library Board, donating hours at the Crisis Center Thrift Store, and serving as an election judge. She listened to countless children read at Mountain Grove Elementary School where she was affectionately called “Grandma Bonnie.”

Bonnie accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age. At age 16, she began teaching the Sunday School “Card Class” at Bethel Church. She later taught in the Children’s Department at First Free Will Baptist Church for many years. Bonnie and her seven siblings enjoyed singing hymns around the piano at every family gathering. Bonnie prayed daily for her family and friends. She was faithful throughout her entire life.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her dear husband, Carl; brothers, Robert Walker, Jesse Walker, and Rex Walker; and sister, Shirley Walker Turner.

Bonnie is survived by her children: Barbara Cox (Lewis), Dibble, Oklahoma; David Prock (Donita), Mountain Grove; and Dan Prock (Karen), Rogersville. She leaves behind ten grandchildren who loved her dearly: Matt Cox, Sarah Sparks (Jimmie), Joel Prock, Bethany Hyde (Jeremy), Josh Prock (Erin), Hannah Prock, Jon Cox (Kate), Randi Brown (Chris), Caleb Prock (Emily), and Ben Prock. She leaves nine great-grandchildren: Logan and Cody Cox, Eli and Noah Sparks, Cash and Hattie Hyde, Lottie and Judson Brown, and Mason Prock. Other survivors include one sister, Billie Chapman; brothers, Max Walker (Louise) and Sonny Walker (Lonna); sisters-in-law, Phyllis Walker, Pat Walker, and Shirley Ellis.

Bonnie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her compassion and kindness toward others. She was loving and caring to all. She expressed gratitude in all things. Bonnie will be missed by all those that knew and loved her.
