On November 30, 1952, she was united in marriage to David Lewis Steffe. Dave preceded her in death on July 8, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Carolyn is survived by a daughter, Nancy Conley, and husband, Sean; son, David Steffe, and wife, Beth, all of Mansfield; grandchildren, Crystal Steffe and fiancé, Ed France, David Austin Steffe, and wife, Samantha, and Daison Steffe, all of Mansfield; great-grandchildren, Lilly Dawn Coday, Jace Lewis France, David Justin Steffe, Elizabeth Ann Steffe, and Genna Marie Steffe; step-grandchildren, Jayde Johnson, Gabby Robertson, and Alex France; brother, Victor Pierce, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; sister, Dorothy Coad, of St. Louis, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

She was born in Chaffee and raised in the Mtn. View and West Plains area. Carolyn was a graduate of West Plains High School in the Class of 1952 and then attended Cottey College for a while. She and Dave eloped to Arkansas where they were married, with Kenneth and Lee Dennis witnessing the ceremony. While Dave was in the military, they were stationed several different places including Fairbanks, Alaska, when Alaska became the 49th state of the Union.

After returning to Mansfield, Carolyn raised her family, attended beauty school, worked at the Mansfield Mirror and worked as a secretary for Hutchens’ Industries where she retired.

In her spare time, she was active with her kids in Girls Scouts and Boy Scouts, telling stories, shopping, soap operas, and driving her family CRAZY! Keeping us all on our toes because her love was so BIG!

Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We had many, many fun and memorable times together that we will never forget.
