Christena Rhodes, daughter of the late Fred and Lela (Hayes) Bender, was born April 17, 1944, and departed this life July 11, 2025, at 81 years of age.
Christena had several jobs throughout her career including Brown Shoe Factory, Missouri Home Health Care, and Casey’s. She also owned and operated her own truck as Christena Rhodes Trucking LLC, and later owned and operated Granny’s Recycling.
Christena’s hobbies included mowing her yard, burning brush piles, keeping her plants pretty, feeding all of her pets including rabbits, squirrels, cats, and dogs, and spending time sitting on the front porch. She also enjoyed fishing and driving into town to get McDonalds coffee and pick up her mail. She liked coaching the Kansas City Chiefs on TV and throwing shade at Mahomes.
Most of all, she loved spending time with her daughter, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Christena was best known by most as Granny, Mom, Granny Chris, or Aunt Chris.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Coffman, three grandchildren, Lance Coffman, Jacob Coffman, and Jessica May, three great-grandsons, Max May, Beau Coffman, and Dawson Evans, and many other extended family and friends who will miss her.
