Clayton Dale Thompson, son of Gerald “Jesse” and Lavouna (Thrasher) Thompson, was born January 7, 1973, in Rockford, Illinois, and passed away May 5, 2025, at his residence in Mansfield, Missouri, at 52 years of age.
Clay and his family moved to Mansfield in 1976. He attended Mansfield schools and graduated with the class of 1991. Clay married Heather Lansdown in November 1993, and one daughter, Breanna, was born to this union. He later married Amanda Lawson on August 29, 2003, and gained a son, Gavin, with this union.
Clay was saved March 17, 2000, at the First Baptist Church in Mansfield and was baptized soon after that. He rededicated his life to the Lord on September 8, 2024. At the time of his passing, he was attending Mansfield First Assembly of God. Clay was never angry about his cancer diagnosis and always said if this was the way God wanted to use him to reach out to others and tell them about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, he was glad and willing to do it.
Most of Clay’s working career was spent at United Poly Systems in Springfield, Missouri, starting out in the maintenance department and advancing his way to process engineer. In 2022, he semi-retired and started his own consulting business in the pipe industry, traveling all over North America.
Clay loved his family very much and especially loved spending time with his grandbabies. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing, and pheasant hunting.
Clay was preceded in death by his grandparents, Delmar and Vernlee Thrasher, Clint Thompson, and Mickey and Harry Hensley; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Huey and Gail Lawson.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda Thompson; his daughter, Breanna Robbins and husband, Josh; his son, Gavin Dunn and fiancé, Paige Beggs; his parents, Jesse and Lavouna Thompson; two brothers, Clint Thompson and wife, Darlene, and Andy Williams and wife, Barb; two sisters, Deana Borders and husband, James, and Lorie Jordan; three grandchildren, Harper Robbins, Kaliah Dunn and Clayton Dunn; sister-in-law, Sheri Stofer and husband, Jeff; his former in-laws, Mike and Hazel Stuart; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
