Daniel "DJ" Jack Friend

Daniel “DJ” Jack Friend was born to William and Wanda Jean (Mergendahl) Friend on February 13, 1987, in Independence, Missouri. He left this world on May 5, 2025, at his home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, at the age of 38.

After receiving his high school diploma, DJ found success working in the trucking and transportation industry. He spent many hours on the road as one of our essential workers.

When he wasn’t driving, DJ enjoyed going to creeks in the area to unwind. The tranquility of nature called to him as well, and he would spend entire afternoons enjoying the perfect sunlit days and listening to music, with two of his favorite artists being Drake and Kevin Gates. DJ was an enthusiastic individual with a genuine passion for life. A favorite hobby was collecting sports cards. DJ created a collection that reflected his love for the game and provided many hours of amusement for him. However, his true pleasure came from hanging out with friends and family. DJ’s spirited personality and infectious laughter were a big part of who he was, which made him the kind of person that was fun to be around. He was a beacon of fun, always ready to share a smile and a hearty laugh that could brighten even the darkest of days. The tales he recounted, tinged with warmth and humor, will be remembered by those who knew and loved him. DJ was a loving and caring father to his two boys, Gage and Owen, as well as a good son, brother, and uncle.

He was preceded in death by his Grandpa Jack, Grandma Lesalie, Nana Judy, Grandma Barb, and Uncle Berry.

He leaves behind his two sons, Gage Friend and Owen Dailey, his mom, Wanda, and his brother, Zach, as well as many other relatives and friends who will miss him.
