Daniel Lawrence

February 24, 1941 — February 12, 2024

Daniel Sherman Lawrence, son of Albert Lawrence and Dolly (Hudson) Lawrence was born February 24, 1941, in South Charleston, West Virginia, and departed this life February 12, 2024, at his home in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of 82 years, 11 months, and 18 days.

He was united in marriage to Kitty A. Lacy on April 15, 1960, and to this union 4 children were born.  She preceded him in death in August 1996.  He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Dan is survived by his children, Donna Adkins, Tammy Barrett, Wendy Faulkenberry, and Daniel S. Lawrence II; grandchildren, Jack (Gene) Haws, Shawn Barrett, Carais Lawrence, Kyle Lawrence, Ethan and Ella Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Brock Barrett and Braxton Barrett; other relatives and many friends.

He grew up in Kanawha, West Virginia where he graduated from St. Albans High School in the Class of 1959.  He then served our country faithfully in the United States Marines from 1959-1963 at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Dan was a police officer in West Virginia from 1963-1972, a Florida Highway Patrolman from 1972-1976, a chief investigator for the Florida States attorney office from 1976-1981, and a chief investigator for Martin Marietta Defense Firm in Orlando, Florida, from 1981-1992 where he retired.

Dan enjoyed many things in his earlier years, mostly the beach and his motorcycle rides.  He moved to Missouri in 1996 to be with his family on the farm.  Dan enjoyed the farm life so he could have as many dogs as he wanted.  He loved being outdoors and working in the yard.

Dan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, long-time public servant, and friend.

We celebrate his life and have many fond memories that we will always cherish.
