Donald Calhoun

November 21, 1954 — April 22, 2024

Mansfield

William Donald “Bub” Calhoun, son of the late William “Bill” and Donna Calhoun, was born November 21, 1954, in Mansfield, Missouri, and departed this life April 22, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 69 years, 5 months, and 1 day.

Don was united in marriage to Robin Brooke on April 16, 1973. They recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. To this union three children were born: Kristin, Stephanie, and Erin. After their marriage, Don and Robin moved to California where Don worked as a plumbing contractor before moving back to Mansfield in 1987, where he continued working as a plumber until his retirement.

Don was saved in 1964 on the last day of revival and served for many years as a Royal Ranger leader and a youth basketball coach through the First Assembly of God in Auburn, California. Don also served faithfully for many years as an usher both in California and in Mansfield. Don was a man of deep faith who was known to his family as a prayer warrior. Don relied on his strong faith and fervent prayers when his friends, and especially his family, stood in need of a touch from God.

Don was especially proud of his kids and grandkids, and he was very seldom absent from any of their activities, often providing a Gatorade and a hug after games. Don loved the outdoors and was an avid sucker gigger who would often be found in the fall floating down a creek with his brother, Eddie.

Don was preceded in death by his father, William Calhoun; his father and mother-in-law, Don and Billie Brooke; and son-in-law, Joe Quick.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Robin of the home; three daughters, Kristin Quick of Mansfield, Stephanie Lansdown and husband, Darron, of Mansfield, and Erin Greene and husband, Gary, of Mansfield; his mother, Donna Calhoun of Mansfield; two sisters, Vickie Kreisel and husband, Ron, of Calhoun, Missouri, and Kim Ward of Mansfield; one brother, Eddie Calhoun and wife, Kathy, of Mansfield; brother and sister-in-law, Brad and Janet Brooke of Mansfield; sister-in-law, Amy Brooke of Bellevue, Washington; brother-in-law, Mike Brooke of Springfield, Missouri; three grandsons, Tyler Young, Spencer Greene, and Nathan Quick; seven granddaughters, Sydnee Henry and husband, Ryan, Chloe Farris and husband, Alex, Lydia Wilson, Avery Lansdown, Sadee Greene, Hailey Greene, and Natalie Emerick; three great-grandchildren, Ryder and Rowyn Henry and Nixie Quick; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Don was simply the best husband, father, and “Papa.” We cherish the many memories we have.
