Dorothy Schutte

Dorothy Ann Schutte was born November 12, 1951, to Ralph and Edna Buckley, in Des Moines, Iowa, and she departed this life May 29, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri, at 74 years of age.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Bert Johnston Jr. on October 3, 1970, and they had 10 children. She took great pride in being a homemaker and raising her children. After Bert’s death in 2007, Dorothy worked at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, Iowa, for a few years. She later married James Schutte on September 10, 2011.

Dorothy loved her flowers, hummingbirds, and her large and impressive collection of Stitches from the movie, Lilo & Stitch. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and cherished the time she was able to spend with them.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Edna Buckley, her husbands, Bert Johnston Jr. and James Schutte, one daughter, Lynette Cook, and two grandsons, Tristan Schutte and Ace Johnston.

She is survived by nine children, Carl (Melissa), Laura (Stephen), Donna, Heather (Craig), Amy, David (Tracey), Dustin (McKinzie), Raymond, and Rebecca, two siblings, Bill and Harriet, 22 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many other extended family and friends who will miss her.
